Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
