Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel how it has been created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
