Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
