Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
