The Town (Al-Balad)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 of an orphaned relative 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
