The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and he belied the finest 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
