The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
