The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But save him who fears 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
