The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
