The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
