The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
