In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
