The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
