The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
