The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
