Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
