The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is a distinctly written record 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
