The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
