Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 no caring friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
