He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
