And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and that, verily, Our hosts - they indeed - would [in the end] be victorious! 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And wait; they will come to know soon. 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe. 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
