And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
