They ask you about revelation. Say, revelation is by the command of your Lord, and that you have been given but little knowledge. 85 And if We so willed, We could indeed take away whatever We have revealed unto thee, and in that [state of need] thou wouldst find none to plead in thy behalf before Us. 86 [Thou art spared] only by thy Sustainer's grace: behold, His favour towards thee is great indeed! 87 Say, "If all men and jinn gathered together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce one like it, however much they helped one another." 88 We have indeed turned about for men in this Koran every manner of similitude; yet most men refuse all but unbelief. 89 And they say: We will by no means believe in you until you cause a fountain to gush forth from the earth for us. 90 or, until you own a garden of palms and vines and cause rivers to gush forth with abundant water in them; 91 or cause the sky to fall on us in pieces as you claimed, or bring Allah and the angels before us, face to face; 92 or thou have a house [made] of gold, or thou ascend to heaven - but nay, we would not [even] believe in thy ascension unless thou bring down to us [from heaven] a writing which we [ourselves] could read! Say thou, [O Prophet:] "Limitless in His glory is my Sustainer! Am I, then, aught but a mortal man, an apostle?" 93
