The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
