See you not that We have sent the Shayatin (devils) against the disbelievers to push them to do evil. 83 (Muhammad), exercise patience; We have given them respite only for an appointed time. 84 The Day We shall gather the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) unto the Most Beneficent (Allah), like a delegate (presented before a king for honour). 85 and drive those who were lost in sin unto hell as a thirsty herd is driven to a well 86 [on that Day] none will have [the benefit of] intercession unless he has [in his lifetime] entered into a bond with the Most Gracious. 87 And they say: the Compassionate hath taken a son. 88 Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing. 89 the heavens might well-nigh burst thereat, and the earth break asunder, and the mountains fall down in pieces, 90 That they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to the Most Beneficent (Allah). 91 And it does not befit the Most Gracious to choose an offspring! 92 None there is in the heavens and the earth but must come unto the Compassionate as a bondman. 93 He has counted them and calculated their number. 94 And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection (without any helper, or protector or defender). 95 Surely Ar-Rahman will show love for those who believe and do the right. 96 and only to this end have We made this [divine writ] easy to understand, in thine own tongue, [O Prophet,] so that thou might convey thereby a glad tiding to the God-conscious, and warn thereby those who are given to [futile] contention: 97 How many generations We have destroyed before them! Can you find a single one of them alive now, or hear so much as a whisper from them? 98
