Joseph (Yousuf)
111 verses, revealed in Mecca after Hood (Hood) before The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of a Book that clearly expounds the truth. 1 Lo! We have revealed it, a Lecture in Arabic, that ye may understand. 2 (O Muhammad), by revealing the Qur'an to you We narrate to you in the best manner the stories of the past although before this narration you were utterly unaware of them. 3 Call to mind when Joseph said to his father: "My father! I saw (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon: I saw them prostrating themselves before me." 4 He said: O my son! recount not thine vision unto thy brethren, lest they plot a plot against thee; verily the Satan is unto man an enemy manifest. 5 "Thus will thy Lord choose thee and teach thee the interpretation of stories (and events) and perfect His favour to thee and to the posterity of Jacob - even as He perfected it to thy fathers Abraham and Isaac aforetime! for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom." 6

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
