The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
