The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
