The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
