Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
