Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a high garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
