۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
