۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
