By no means! By the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
