And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
