Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 and the burden-bearers 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
