The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
