The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
