By the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 running away from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
