The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
