۞ It is He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and (then) He has created from him his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], in order that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her. When he had sexual relation with her, she became pregnant and she carried it about lightly. Then when it became heavy, they both invoked Allah, their Lord (saying): "If You give us a Salih (good in every aspect) child, we shall indeed be among the grateful." 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Attribute they as partners to Allah those who created naught, but are themselves created, 191 And who cannot succour them, nor can succour themselves. 192 If you call them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is the same whether you call them or you are silent. 193 Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allah are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful. 194 Have these [images,] perchance, feet on which they could walk? Or have they hands with which they could grasp? Or have they eyes with which they could see? Or have they ears with which they could hear? Say [O Prophet]: "Summon to your aid all those to whom you ascribe a share in God's divinity, and thereupon contrive [anything you may wish] against me, and give me no respite! 195 The (true) Guardian is certainly God who has revealed the Book and is the Guardian of the righteous ones. 196 Those whom you call on besides Him have no power to help you, nor can they help themselves." 197 and if you pray unto them for guidance, they do not hear; and though thou mayest imagine that they behold thee, they do not see." 198 Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e. don't punish them). 199 If an evil impulse from Satan provokes you, seek refuge with God; He is all hearing, and all knowing. 200 Indeed, those who fear Allah - when an impulse touches them from Satan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight. 201 Their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not. 202 And when thou bringest them not a sign, they say, 'Why hast thou not chosen one?' Say: 'I follow only what is revealed to me from my Lord; this is clear testimony from your Lord, guidance, and mercy for a people of believers.' 203 When the Qur'an is recited listen to it in silence. You may perhaps be blessed. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones. 205 Surely, those who are with your Lord (angels) are never too proud to perform acts of worship to Him, but they glorify His Praise and prostrate before Him. ۩ 206
