Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
