The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day resplendent 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 He verily will be content. 21
