۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Are we not then to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
