A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 (On the Day of Reckoning) We shall question the people to whom We had sent Our apostles, (if they followed their teachings), and will question the apostles. 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 And surely, We gave you authority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (for your life). Little thanks do you give. 10
