The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 The unbelievers would haply like to wish that they had submitted (and become Muslim). 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 They say: 'Thou, upon whom the Remembrance is sent down, thou art assuredly possessed! 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We do not send angels except with the truth. Then they shall have no respite. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 And never does a Noble Messenger come to them, but they mock at him. 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 who do not believe in it, although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery." 15
