Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 When I have completed shaping him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall you down before him in prostration." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
