The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
