۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
