The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 it is not a jest. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
